Mathfonts Bitstream ClassicalGaramond (=Sabon) ====================================================================== 2005-02-12 Michael Gaehrken mgaehrken@gmx.de This distribution contains an attempt to use Bitstream ClassicalGaramond, a clone of Sabon, together with the free Pazo fonts for mathematical typesetting. Latin letter are taken from ClassicalGaramond, Greek letters and a few symbols from Pazo, and the rest from ComputerModern. Known Bugs & Problems: - The Pazo fonts are desing to go with Palatino, not with Sabon. Therefore the Greek letters do not match exaclty. On the other hand no free Greek fonts are available for Sabon, and Sabon and Palatino are based on designs from the Renaissance. Please tell me your oppinion, whether they match at least a bit, or not! - The spacing and the placement of mathematical accents might be optimized. -------------------------- Requirements -------------------------- A (working) installation of the package "bsabon.tgz" is required for using this package. Please use a version as of 2005-02-12 (or later), because older versions lack certain files needed for math typesetting. A (working) installation of the Pazo-fonts (which are part of the PSNFSS-package, that is required for any LaTeX-distribution) is required. -------------------------- Installation -------------------------- This describtion assumes a TDS-compliant TeX system. 1) Unpack the archive. The archive contains the following files and folders: mathbsb.txt: This file texmf/: Folder with all files required by TeX 2) Install the TeX/LaTeX files. The folder "texmf" contains all files for TeX/LaTeX in their correct position in a virtual texmf-tree, therefore you only need to move the files to their corresponding location in your local texmf-tree. Some of the directorys might have to be created first. 3) Update your filename database. If your tex system maintains a filename database, you might have to update manually now. Please consult the documentation of your tex system. Under teTeX 2.0 and later, run the following command: texhash For other distributions, please consult your documentation! ------------------- Using the fonts with LaTeX ------------------- The supplied package "mathpbsb.sty" selects Bitstream ClassicalGaramond as the default serif and math font. Letters not available from ClassicalGaramond are taken from the Pazo and CM fonts. As default the package loads lining figures. The package supports the following options: osf: Load font with oldstyle figures for text. For math are always lining figures used. slantedGreek: Load italic uppercase Greek letters by default commands: Load additional commands for selecting the font styles not supported by the LaTeX font management: -\osstyle, \textos{...} selects oldstyle figures -\lnstyle, \textln{...} selects lining figures Those commands are taken from "The Font Installation Guide" by Philipp Lehman. BBpl: Use the "blackboard bold" letters available from the Pazo fonts. Defines a command \mathBB to access them. As default no "blackboard bold" font is defined, so any external font may be use. The following commands are defined: \upGamma, \upDelta ... \upOmega: The commands produce always upright uppercase Greek letter. \mathbold: Selects bolditalic math alphabet for typesetting bold variables \mathBB: This command is only available if the option "BBpl" is given (see above). The package and the source files are based on the mathpazo package. ---------------------------- History ----------------------------- 2005-02-12 slightly changed spacing and positioning few changes to mathpbsb.sty alternate "h" only within math 2004-09-27 Inital release ---------------------------- Legal ----------------------------- This bundle "mathpbsb.tgz" and the included files are Copyright (c) 2004--2005 Michael Gaehrken Distribution of single files prohibited. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Gaehrken mgaehrken@gmx.de
